SAM BOYLSTON

Some of you may not remember or know of Sam Boylston, one of Springfield's most colorful and talented sons.  (Sam's Mother owned and operated Lillie's Kitchen, formerly located adjacent and to the west side of what is now Goodland Bar-Be-Que.)  Sam was a member of the SC House of Representatives from 1951--1956.  Learn more about this talented artist and former Member of the SC House.  Also included in the site is a 119 page book authored by his brother, Raymond Boylston.  Sam's obituary is on page 115 of the book.

 WORLD'S LARGEST HAND-DUG WELL

Many of you might recall open wells that provided water for individual homes.  One such well was located directly behind the Town Museum. Shortly after the Frog Jump Park was opened, the front wheel of a small truck dropped into the already filled well.  The truck was removed without too much effort, and more soil was put into the well.  Although not in South Carolina, it is a very interesting story about the World's Largest hand-dug well.
