MR. RADIO, W4BPD, and GUS M. BROWNING; three names, one person! Anyone associated with Ham Radio during the years mentioned in the marquee would have known of Mr. Browning. He sailed the seas around the world several times setting up Ham Radio stations in remote lands from which few, or no radio transmissions had ever been transmitted.

Mr. Masayoshi Ebisawa had been writing short stories about famous DX's for the Japanese radio magazine DENPA KAGAKU, and asked Gus for his autograph when Gus visited Tokyo in 1964. This is a copy of Masa's cherished autograph which he has kept for more than 40 years. Please visit Masa's Web site linked in the left column. Also, for additional information about Masa go to the W4BPD ARCHIVE POST in left column. K4CRF K4CRF was the call sign of John A. B. Wertz. Johnny, as we called him, was a well know Ham Radio enthusiast and resident of Springfield, SC during the late 1940s through the1980s. He was also a fellow pilot and aircraft owner, therefore, this is tribute to him. Copyright © 2006-2008John W. Baxley All rights reserved. |
